Stair Chair

When you are a person with disabilities and you live in a house with additional floors, getting up and down the stairs can be at best an unpleasant and painful experience and at worst a complete non starter. That's why getting a mobility aid known as a stair chair, or stairway chair lifts is more than just a great idea, ita also a necessary one.

Think about the current situation where perhaps you can no longer climb the stairs. Your quality of life is restricted and reduced because a part of your home is no longer accessible to you without calling for someone else to help you. In many cases, this is not an option or is an embarrassing one. The situation can be even more dire if your home's only bathroom is on the first floor of the house.

Having a stair chair lift professionally fitted will instantly change all that by opening up your access to your entire house once again and meaning lift can be more indepebdant for you as you no longer need to rely on anyone else to help you up or down the stairs.

Benefits of a Stair Chair Lift

The benefits of having a stair chair lift installed in your home are many fold. As already mentioned above, one of these devices gives you access to the upper floors of your home. If your only bathroom is on the first floor, a stair chair gives you direct, unaided access to it once more.

If your mobility is not so restricted that you are able to climb the stairs, but doing so is painful, slow and uncomfortable, a stair chair lift changes all that and makes the process an easier and more pleasant experience.

More importantly, a stair chair lift gives you the total freedom of access to all the rooms in your home. If your favorite bedroom is on the first floor, then you can enjoy using it all the time and not just when a friend, family member or care assistant can come and take you up at night and bring you down again in the morning.

The freedom of movement that a stair chair lift provides is such an important thing for so many people who would otherwise be virtual prisoners on the ground floor of their homes.

A Stair Elevator?

In terms of mobility, a stair elevator is what, in actual fact the incredibly versatile stair chair lift really is. It not only allows the user complete freedom of access to higher or lower floors in their home, but it also means that they can carry items with them that they could not do of their own accord.

Simple things like carrying fresh bedding up to a bedroom may have been a nightmare task without a stair chair and a bed may have gone for long periods without being changed for want of the simple free access to this room that able bodied people take for granted.

Similarly, taking fresh towels to a first floor bathroom and then taking the soiled ones down to the laundry room for cleaning is made possible by having a stair chair lift in place. These may sound like almost trivial benefits to those who take their ability to run up and down stairs for granted, but to a person with disbilities or limited mobility, these small things are very important and go a long way to improving the person's own self respect and confidence.

So you can see that even the few benefits and uses noted here that having stairway lifts installed in homes for people that need them, can make a huge difference to the quality of life for them.
