Mens wigs have been an essential part of a balding man's wardrobe through the ages. But not all men's wigs are worn in all seriousness. Many men like to get in the party mood by hiring or buying an outrageous wig to wear to a fun outing. Some of them have been known to become attached to them and begin to wear them to more mundane events, such as nights in the pub with their mates or at football matches!

This brings us to the point of this hub page. Is it serious or is it frivolous?

Some of both, actually. While there is a great importance to some men's confidence associated with appearing in front of other people with a full head of hair, there is also the side of life where others will ridicule a wig wearer, especially if said hairpiece is not the best fitting or is too obviously a wig. On the flip side, a lot of fun can be had by wearing a wig...

Mens Wigs For Frivolity

Frivolous it may seem, but some men just can't resist wearing a wig of some description to social events such as parties, celebratory gatherings or even supposedly serious affairs where they are in a mischievous mood! These are often the kind of party wigs that you can buy or hire in specialist party stores and outlets that often sell fancy dress costumes.

A really crazy party would not be complete without one or more extroverts cavorting around the place with a brightly colored afro style wig. These come in some really outlandish colors such as shocking pink, bright orange, day-glo green or blue or even purple and are hilarious when you have a few blokes wearing them all for a big joke.

Another use for wigs is at fancy dress parties, especially when men like to dress up as women as a crazy prank. Then you see all kinds of long blond wigs, big hair wigs on Dolly Parton clones, even multicolor Mohican punk wigs! Its usually all in good fun, so don't get all serious about it!

Turning swiftly from the frivolous to the serious and we come to the area of men's wigs where they are deadly serious. This is where a man will wear a wig to cover a balding area of scalp to create the illusion of having a full head of hair. This is often done by middle aged men who see a receding hairline as stark evidence of advancing age. As no one really wants to get old, or at least look like they're getting older, a wig to cover the receding hairline is often the main reason for a man wearing a wig or hairpiece.

In certain situations, much younger men will begin to go bald as young as in their early 20s. Where this could present a real dent in the man's confidence, especially if he is not married or in a relationship, a wig is often a method of keeping hold of the confidence that a full head of hair provides. However, these days younger men tend to shun mens wigs in favor of a shaved head look, which is seen as fashionable and therefore much more acceptable than actually having to wear a wig. In some ways, this can be a good thing as it means that men don't have to rely so much on cosmetic fixes to retain a look that is not seen as quite so important today as it would have been, say twenty or thirty years ago.

Sometimes, a man can lose his hair due to illness, poor health or because of reasons of hereditary baldness. In certain cases, this hair loss is temporary, so wearing a wig during the period of hair loss is a good way of presenting their usual look to the people they know, work with or socialize with while their natural hair grows back again.

Yes, of course especially for actors and those who want to change their look without having to resort to hair dyes, then mens wigs are certainly perfect as accessories.

Well, in selecting for your lace wig, one must consider how the way the lace wigs was manufactured.

Since most wigs are factory made, their full lace wigs are produced from what is named Remy Indian hair. This wig can be attached in exactly the same direction that hair grows to looks very real. Although factory made are widely spread in the market today, handmade lace wig are more genuine in appearance.

Here's a thought: instead of men fussing with wigs, trying to get them to look "real" and "natural", why not go back to the way in which they were viewed centuries ago: as wigs! In the 17th and 18th centuries, men wore wigs that didn't pretend to be anything else. They were called wigs and were seen as being wigs, as well as being status symbols in some cases and wigs related to specific professions. These wigs were made to look good of course, but they were not worn to "deceive". Even men with full heads of hair wore wigs! Why not go back to this concept? Why not let wigs be wigs and wear them as such?
